Westworld season 3 doesn’t currently have a release date, although we do know it won’t be in 2019. Filming was expected to get underway on March 25 and is currently scheduled to last for around 27 weeks, with production expected to end in October. While that does mean that, like in 2017, there’ll be another year without new Westworld episodes, it does leave Westworld season 3 well placed to return in 2020. This was confirmed by HBO. Game of Thrones Season 8 has been a noteworthy one, and not always for the better. The final season of HBO’s hit show is almost over, and if you’re caught up, you can read our review of Episode 4, a rundown of the episode’s Easter eggs and references that you might have missed, and a look at whether there could be more dragons in Westeros. Just before the clock struck midnight on the last night of 2018, Netflix sent fans into the new year with the exciting news that Stranger Things 3 will (finally!) return on July 4, 2019.
Along with the release date, they shared the official poster of the forthcoming season, featuring the foreboding phrase, “One summer can change everything,” and a graphic of the young cast watching fireworks explode over what looks like a local fair. This is Stranger Things, though, and of course Millie Bobby Brown’s Eleven looks terrified, even as she holds her sweetheart Mike’s hand, as some sort of darkness continues to encroach on their quaint Indiana town.
The season comes nearly two years after Stranger Things 2, but the long wait will likely be worth it, as Netflix’s VP of original content Cindy Holland told Deadline that “more special effects” and a higher production value contributed to the lengthy gap between seasons.
Sources tell The Hollywood Reporter that the feature-length movie will be a sequel revolving around Aaron Paul, who will reprise his Emmy-winning role as Jesse Pinkman. Sources also confirm that Netflix will have first-run rights to the top-secret project, which will then air on AMC. (Representatives for AMC, Netflix and producers Sony Pictures TV all declined to comment.)
As THR previously reported, the Breaking Bad movie will be written by original series creator Vince Gilligan, who will executive produce the project alongside franchise collaborators Mark Johnson and Melissa Bernstein. Gilligan, sources say, will direct the film, which will follow the escape of a kidnapped man and his quest for freedom.
